Legacy of an Adopted Child

We attended our last required meeting tonight and only have the final walk through to complete (and the list of things that need to be done to the house). So this whole time I've been saying the "home study" this or that, being rescheduled and blah blah blah...... the final walk through will take place on May 5th by the case worker and the home study will be completed by the Social worker and ready to be submitted to the County as soon as our final walk through is complete.

I know, confusing. The home study is actually a report regarding our home not the study or tour of the home itself which is actually the final walk through.

This was on the cover of the binder for this evening's class and wanted to share.

Once there were two families
Who never knew each other
One you do not remember
One called father & mother

One gave you nationality
The other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent
The other gave you an aim

Two different lives shaped
To make yours one
One became your guiding star
The other became your sun

One gave you emotions
The other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile
The other dried your tears

The first gave you Life and
The second taught you to live it
The first gave you a need for love
And the second was there to give it

One gave you up,
It was all that they could do
The other prayed for a child
And God led them straight to you

And now you ask me through your tears
The age old question through the years;
Hereditary or Environment, which are you a product of?
Neither my darling, neither
Just two different kinds of Love

Yep, made my eyes watery also.

That was a lovely poem, Kara. And I'm so excited that your fost/adopt certification is moving along so quickly! Yay!

Oh my God that's beautiful. If I ever get moving on this adoption thing, I'm going to print that out and post it on my wall to see every day.

I'm so very excited for you.
